As he takes his Arsenal side to Turf Moor, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will want nothing more than another three points to match those won in dramatic fashion at Anfield on Sunday. Burnley have been strong at home this season, and the 1-0 win over Manchester United proves the point that Owen Coyle’s side have no fear at home. Wigan are the only side to have beaten Burnley on their home patch this season, and Wenger will need his players to be ready for what could prove to be a very physical battle. Rocket The Gunners however will be ready. None of the players will have enjoyed Wenger’s Anfield half time rocket, and with that “ feed back” still ringing in their ears, Cesc Fabregas will need to instil the need stay focussed and disciplined in the early exchanges, before letting the Gunners’ passing game to allow them to take control. What Wenger will not want will be to go a goal behind which will lift the home crowd, as was the case at Sunderland. In that game, Arsenal’s several attempts to get an equaliser came too late and that cannot be allowed to happen on Wednesday night. Arshavin is key Denilson poses another injury worry for Wenger, but some good news in that Abou Diaby will be fit as well as Emmanuel Eboue who should and should feature. Alexander Song will be back after serving a one match suspension. The key as always will be the Gunners’ front line, and the form of Andrey Arshavin. In netting the spectacular winner – his eight goal this season - we saw at Anfield what the Russian is capable of producing, and if Wenger chooses two in attack and pairs him with Eduardo, then Arsenal will have enough about them to come away with a good result. True, Burnley will not let Arsenal settle, but then that seemed the ploy used by Liverpool. Samir Nasri and Theo Walcott were intelligent in that game and Wenger will ask that all his players respond to another crucial game ahead of the forthcoming Christmas fixtures. |
